Sabbatical positions are full time one year positions that work to the same terms and conditions as new members of Union staff. They are paid approx. £15,000 (pay award pending August 2007) and receive 25 days holiday a year (plus bank holidays). All students across all campuses and sites are eligible to stand and vote for the cross-campus Union President position.
The Union President is the main cross-campus leader of the Student Union, taking the main role in external relations and interaction with the University authorities. It is an excellent way to gain hands-on leadership experience, and provides invaluable insight into working in a membership organisation. Previous Presidents have gone on to work in Higher Education, recruitment, management and other areas, and employers look extremely favourably on the experience and responsibility of leading a diverse and dynamic organisation.
