The Entertainments Officer (or Entz Officer as they are often known) work very closely with the Campus Vice President and Venue Manager to organise, promote and generally run a full and varied events and entertainments programme. One of the key areas where the Entz Officer comes into their own is in polling opinion and representing the views of the current students, helping shape the entz programme to keep it up to date and fresh.
To this end the Entertainments Officer is instrumental in recruiting and supporting the Entz Team, a group of volunteers who assist them and the Vice President in seeking feedback, promoting events and generally working on making sure the events run smoothly.
Arrange, publicise, and administrate the Entertainment Team, which is to meet at least five times a term.
Be the chair of the Entertainment Team.
Bring forward recommendations from the Entertainment Team to the Site Committee/Students Council/Executive/President as required.
In conjunction with the relevant Sabbatical officer, staff and Entertainment Team organise and publicise a variety of entertainment and other social activities to reflect the interest of all sections of the membership.
Liaise with the Student Media Officer and relevant staff to ensure that all events are well publicised to all students, organise the Entertainments Team to assist where necessary with the distribution of publicity.
Carry out research with students and working alongside the Entertainments Team, officer & staff team and based on the information collected draw up a termly entertainments plan that is within budgetary parameters.
Alongside the relevant Sabbatical officers and staff ensure that correct financial procedures are adhered to in the organisation of events, and that all events have a income/expenditure budget.
Assist the Vice President and relevant staff in the planning and organisation of Freshers Events and all Formal Balls where possible.
As a Representative Officer act in a responsible and appropriate manner which reflects the work of the Students' Union
Act in accordance with and abide by the UCSU Constitution, rules and all Union policies as set out by the Union Council or Executive, and such other procedures or instructions that may be implemented from time to time by Union Council.
Regularly inform and update the membership, Site Committee, Union Council and Executive of current work, projects and achievements in relation to your role.
Attend Union Officer training as and when required
