► Student Media Officer
The Student Media Officer works closely with key staff and Sabbatical officers in producing and promoting a wide range of media, from the student publication, website right through to promotional material for events and activities. As a producer of content (writer/reporter/photographer) the officer acts as the eyes and ears of the Students’ Union on the ground at their campus, seeking out stories that effect students and relaying feedback to the Campus Committee and Union Council. They are also charged with recruiting and leading the Campus Media Team, a group of volunteers who help produce content and distribute media materials across the site or sites. Promote and collate material for the Union student media and publications Working alongside the officer and staff team assist in the production of student media and publications. Coordinate distribution of the Union student media and publications. Working alongside the Vice President and staff team co-ordinate a Student Media Team to explore new and creative ideas in respect to student material. Liaising with the staff & Union Entertainments Team ensure that all activities and events are adequately promoted to the membership. Work with the Equality and Diversity Officer and President in ensuring that all Union media and publications conform to the UCSU Equality and Diversity policy. Ensure adequate student media coverage is present at key College and Union events and activities and whichever other news-events that may be deemed of interest to the membership. Encourage and promote the effective used of all Union notice-boards to the student officers, take a lead role in administrating the upkeep of public promotional spaces. As a Representative Officer act in a responsible and appropriate manner which reflects the work of the Students' Union Act in accordance with and abide by the UCSU Constitution, rules and all Union policies as set out by the Union Council or Executive, and such other procedures or instructions that may be implemented from time to time by Union Council. Regularly inform and update the membership, Site Committee, Union Council and Executive of current work, projects and achievements in relation to your role. Attend Union Officer training as and when required
