The Welfare Officer works closely with the Vice President in leading the campaigning wing of the Students’ Union activities at the site, planning and supporting health and wellbeing campaigns and, in partnership with the Equality and Diversity Officer, promoting awareness campaigns. As issues arise the Welfare Officer also meets challenges to the welfare and wellbeing of the student membership, which can be as wide and varied as inadequate housing provision, health scares, crime awareness, or drink spiking. They also act in support of the Equality and Diversity Officer in running the Equality and Diversity Forum, an open access meeting held twice a term where students can bring issues to the attention of the Students’ Union. Assist the Equality and Diversity Officer in convening and administrating the Equality and Diversity Forum at least six times a year. Working closely with the Vice President and other officers, as and when appropriate, promote students' welfare and health activities/campaigns, as may be raised by the Equality and Diversity Forum. Ensure that relevant and up to date welfare and health literature is ailable to all student members. Working alongside other elected officers campaign and raise awareness of issues relating to student welfare and health issues. Advise students as to what support mechanisms are available, both internal and external to the College, including the UCSU Advice Service. As a Representative Officer act in a responsible and appropriate manner which reflects the work of the Students' Union Act in accordance with and abide by the UCSU Constitution, rules and all Union policies as set out by the Union Council or Executive, and such other procedures or instructions that may be implemented from time to time by Union Council. Regularly inform and update the membership, Site Committee, Union Council and Executive of current work, projects and achievements in relation to your role.Attend Union Officer training as and when required
