Campus Committees exist at each main campus of the University of Cumbria, and form the front line of student union activity and representation. As part-time officers they are current students who volunteer thier time to work with the Union to ensure that we are always striving towards our central goal; to enhance the student experience at the University of Cumbria.
Campus Committee Officers do this through thier dual role of being the local Students' Union representatives and also, when combined with the other Committees from across the four campuses, becoming key members of the centralised Union Council, which makes decisions that affect the entire Union.
Each Officer has a specific portfolio which covers both an area of representation and a role with activity and service support objectives. Representation means that the officer, once mandated by thier fellow students, has a duty to reflect the views, opinions and needs of the students covered by thier portflio at both Campus Committee and Union Council level.
The role they play in supporting activities and services is also important, as many of the high-profile elements that make up the Union (bars, entz, student activities) can only run smoothly and effectively with the input of the Campus Committee officers.
Certain positions also oversee one of the main representative areas of the Student Union, that of the Forums, Committees and Teams. This comprise of the Academic Affairs Forum, Clubs & Societies Development Team, Sports Development Team, Entertainments Team, Student Media Team and Equality and Diversity Forum. These open access groups convene at each site under the leadership of the appropriate officer to allow students the fullest opportunity to voice concerns about elements of their student experience or to provide feedback about the Union.
The eight different Campus Committee Officer positions (plus the newly proposed Under 18's Rep position) are broken down and explained further in thier own sub-pages to the left under the 'Campus Committee Positions' sub-menu or via the individual links below.
