Sabbatical positions are full time one year positions that work to the same terms and conditions as new members of Union staff. They are paid approx £15,000 and receive 25 days holiday a year (plus bank holidays). Only students from the relevant campus can stand and vote for the Vice President for that campus, and Vice Presidents are returned for the Ambleside, Carlisle City, Lancaster and Penrith Campuses.
Vice Presidents act as the leader for all site-specific Student Union decisions and provides support and guidance for the Campus Committee at their campus. Each Vice President is given leeway to specialise in an area of interest, such as entertainments, media, academic support etc. This full time sabbatical position provides excellent first hand managerial experience, working closely not only with the Campus Committee but also with students and staff across the board.
