The Students' Union elections use a secure online voting system to maximise the oppportunity for all students to participate in the chosing of their elected officers. This system allows any student to vote no matter what campus they are on, or even if they are on placement or are a distance learner, and allows 24 hour access to the balloting process during the voting period.
In a new development students are verified by entering thier UoC Student Username and Password (which you use to log into any on-campus pc, or your student email or Blackboard account). This system has been partnered with the University IT Services staff, and no data other than an authentication code is sent from the University to the online voting servers. The benefit of this system is that there is no need to log into this website to access your ballot paper, that your data is secured by the University network and that the 'voter list' is drawn from a live table of student records which should avoid past issues of students not being listed as eligible to vote.
Local and Global
Once you have verified your log in and password you will be redirected to the voting system, where you will be asked to indicate which camous you are registered at. The options are: Carlisle (all sites), Lancaster, Penrith, Other Campuses. This selection will then stream you to be presented with both the gloabal cross-campus ballot paper and also any local site-specific contests for you to vote upon.
