I am standing for this position because I feel as a smaller campus we are often unheard and it is time that we had an impact on our education and experience at university. I am a very enthusiastic individual, who has no fear in putting across firm views. Past roles include student council member and I am currently a course representative, demonstrating my experience in roles of this nature. Having worked for two years in a professional environment I understand the importance of good communication and working to deadlines. If I am elected I shall ensure that I am in regular contact with the main Students Union, my email address will be readily available so that any problems can be brought to me, and these would then be sent in a formal monthly email to the Students Union. I would also introduce community work with local schools to increase the universities profile and increase the possibility of local placements. I will also organise talks from newly qualified teachers as well as established teachers so that we are constantly being reminded of what we will be doing soon and getting some relevant tips. I believe that it is also important to increase the amount of social interaction we have as students and would therefore organise events/trips that people suggest using my position to advertise them in the notice boards so that no-one is left behind! Being such a small campus so far away from the main site we often feel that we are getting less for our money, I will personally ensure that we are in no way disadvantaged. So remember on the 10th – 14th May to ‘Vote Smart | Vote Alex.’
