Please note: These positions are open to any student registered on course of study at the University, including FE and HE students, paty-time, distance learners and postgraduates.
This is an annual role which can be held at the same time as any other position (including Independent Chair), and the three successful candidates form the University of Cumbria Students’ Union delegation to all NUS conferences for the next academic year with the exception of the annual conference, where the top three polling candidates join both the outgoing and incoming Representation Sabbatical/President to form the delegation.
As a delegation they are expected to prepare reports on each conference or NUS event they attend which should be made available to the members via the Union website. They attend these events to represent the views of the membership as instructed via any legitimate democratic process, be that referenda, General Meeting vote or outcome from an Assembly vote or campaign.
Transport and accommodation expenses for appropriate conferences will be covered by the Students’ Union, and the delegation should expect to attend a reasonable number of planning meetings and de-briefings before and after events to allow the formation of a whole-Union approach.
