Do you have any great success stories?
We are still a relatively new Society, however we have already managed to organise a fundraising event for the Eden Valley Hospice. In the future we plan to organise bigger events, aimed at raising funds for local charities. Currently we are planning a mountain walk, in preparation for climbing Ben Nevis next year. As for bigger projects, we’d like to take part in a parachute jump for the Mental Health Foundation. If you are interested in joining, or would like to participate in the events we organise, contact us!
What are you hoping to achieve through your club/society?
Our primary aim is to raise awareness of the public of mental health issues and the problems affecting people with mental health problems. We also try to challenge the stigma of mental health problems – as a part of that process, we’re planning to run a big fundraising event for the benefit of the local mental health charities. Furthermore, we strive to challenge the cultural and social boundaries by actively participating in various talks, seminars and conferences. The Society also organises social events, aimed at networking, discussing various issues and exploring new ideas and viewpoints.
