1. To raise awareness of mental health issues.
We are still a relatively new Society, however we have already managed to organise a fundraising event for the Eden Valley Hospice. Further, last year 5 of our members did a sponsored tandem skydive in aid of the Mental Health Foundation, raising over £2000 for the charity! We also hosted several networking events. If you are interested in joining, or would like to participate in the events we organise, don't hesitate contact us!
Our primary aim is to raise awareness of the public of mental health issues and the problems affecting people with mental illness. We also try to challenge the stigma of mental health problems – as a part of that process, we’re planning to run a big fundraising event for the benefit of the local mental health charities. Furthermore, we strive to challenge the cultural and social boundaries by actively participating in various talks, seminars and conferences. The Society also organises social events, aimed at networking, discussing various issues and exploring new ideas and viewpoints.
