What are your aims and objectives of the club/society?
• To retain the league title we already hold this year and to maintain our unbeaten form throughout the coming season.
• To reach and win the national cup final.
• To offer players the opportunity to go to trials for regional and national student teams.
• To get both a new kit and tracksuit for the upcoming season.
• To offer the opportunity for any students to become part of the team no matter how much experience they have in the game.
Do you have any great success stories?
Since the formation of the club in 2006 the club has achieved some quite remarkable feats, becoming back to back winners of the Lancashire league, in both the 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 season. As well as winning the league we have had very good runs in the cup being narrowly beaten in the final in 2007/2008 and reaching the quarter finals in 2008/2009. We also have had numerous players play at well known super league clubs and at international levels representing Great Britain, England and Ireland students.
What are you hoping to achieve through your club/society?
We are hoping to increase overall participation in rugby league at the University of Cumbria, by offering quality coaching and experience. We aim to maintain and expand our existing team with the main aim of becoming the best University rugby league team in the North West. We will do this by creating a outgoing, cohesive and well drilled squad. We have recently agreed to a sponsorship deal with a well know nutrition company sci-mentor and we are aiming to obtain more sponsors to fund the proposals of kit and tracksuits. And finally we aim to offer all players the opportunity to go to trials for the regional and national student rugby league teams.
